C I«———■■■■ - - - • • The Municipal Building this week broke out with Christmas lights and decorations. The girls there did a very artistic job with the main en trance, which is encircled with decorations and lights. Candles are in the windows. Predominat ing color is blue. 9 © We have been asked if there will be a Com munity Christmas tree in the Hospital yard this year.- It is our information that there will not be one this year. The Community Sing, if held, will be in front of the Meikle Christmas display on Wash ington Street. 9 © W. C. Williams announced today that he was opening a branch of his Roanoke Rapids Funeral Home in Jackson. It will be known as the Williams Funeral Parlor. Mr. Williams said he hoped to open his branch establishment the first of next week. • ©/The foundation for the new High School building was poured this week by the Fred Forest Co. Due to lack of schoolroom space, one entire class is still on half day shifts, will continue so until the new building is completed, the eight new classrooms being sufficient to relieve the present congestion. The foundation is being laid with suf ficient strength to carry a three room structure, similar to the Junior High School building. © © A petition to widen Tenth Street is being cir culated among the property owners on that Street. Present paving plans call for concrete on three blocks of Tenth: one block between Hamilton and the Avenue and two blocks from the Avenue to Madison Street. These three blocks are predomi nantly business blocks and the business people want more width on those blocks than on cross streets in the residential sections. 0 © Lawyer Julian R.
